Kristen Stewart, the actress from Twilight, is so painfully awkward during interviews. I saw her on Letterman before and it just wasn't good. I always find it weird when actors and actresses are shy or have no charisma when they're being interviewed. She seems like she'd be a cool person to know in real life, but for whatever reason, she's still uncomfortable with the attention. Watch her body language during this interview with Jimmy Kimmel. And listening to her talk, she's definitely still really young. Major overuse of the word "like". hehe. I'm sure she'll get more comfortable with interviews as she gets older.
I'm lazy so here's a short review. Interpol officer Clive Owen and Naomi Watts (I think she was part of the NY District Attorneys Office or something) try to bring down a big bad corporate bank. It's an intelligent suspenseful drama along the lines of the Bourne Identity films. The dialogue is quick and complex and you'd better pay attention or you won't get it. The action sequence at the Guggenheim was a surprise, and was a highlight. I'm still scratching my head wondering how they did it.
Clive Owen is good in pretty much everything he does, and this is no exception. I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but it was really good. I recommend it.
I swear, this website sucks ass. I tried to post something earlier today and it wouldn't save or publish or anything. So I left it and went back just now to find that it actually posted my draft 7 friggin times before I had even written anything. Plus, I now have 56 copies of it in my drafts folder, and I certainly never tried to save it that many times. I'm really getting tired of this. Not sure how much longer I'll keep this up. We'll see.
I have absolutely nothing to write about. Been sitting here thinking about it, and I have nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero. A case of writer's block, I guess. Though there's plenty to twitter about (or is the term actually "tweet"?), I can't do much more than that these days. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for something to inspire me. Hope all is well with everyone.
So I was sitting around having a coffee when this guy comes up to me and starts offering me this deal on a spa package at the place he works. Normally, I'd have just said I wasn't interested, and that'd be that. But, this guy was pretty damn cute, so I decided to give him the time of day. Basically, his looks got him that far, and I'm guessing that looks get him most of his success in terms of sales, anyway. And that's the thing I realized - good-looking people have it easier in life because good looks do get you farther. I really believe that.
I'm not saying that unattractive people aren't or can't be successful - of course they're just as successful. And it's not that attractive people don't have intelligence or skills or talent to achieve the success they deserve. But let's face it, it's a hell of a lot easier for them than for others, isn't it? I mean, if all else was equal - say you had two people of the same intelligence and personality - wouldn't you be more drawn to the attractive one? Sure, in general, it's brains over beauty. But what if the beauty also has brains? I'll tell you what - that's a double whammy. How are you supposed to compete with that?
Average-looking or below-average-looking people (and I'm in this group obviously) have to fight a little harder in life because we can't depend on our looks to get us anywhere. All we've got is our skills and talent alone. We have to work a bit harder at turning on the charm.
Some good-looking people know that they're good looking and they work it to their advantage, without even having to try that hard. They think we don't know their game, but we're onto them. But then there are also good looking people who don't even realize they're good looking. These ones don't even have a clue how lucky they are. Really. These are the ones I'm envious of, because they've got the whole package and aren't even aware of it. Their obliviousness is part of their charm.
On the flipside of the coin, there are unattractive people out there who don't know they're unattractive and they've got the confidence of a good looking person. This, I admire. This kind of confidence, I wish I had. I guess it's like they say, act like the person you want to be, not like the person you are, and people will respond to that. It's got to be true. But still, a good looking person only has to be nice enough. They don't have to go the extra mile necessarily. Flash a smile, bat some eyelashes, turn on a little charm. That's it. They're set.
I always respond better to good looking people. I admit it. If I'm driving and there's a cute guy wanting to cross the street, I'll stop to let him go. And it's purely because of his looks. Be honest, you do it too. And if you don't, then you're a liar. hehe.
So this guy who was trying to sell me the spa package, I don't even really remember what he was selling exactly. I just remember thinking to myself, damn, he's cute. Would I have given the time of day to an average looking person? Maybe, but only if they really turned on the charm. They have to work it a lot harder. You'd think I'd be more open since I'm in the same boat. But I guess I'm as bad as the next person. At the end of the day, I'm a sucker for a pretty face. ;)
I don't think I've ever seen a Letterman audience on its feet like that before. The big guy in the front with the blue shirt cracks me up. lol

I finally heard the entire new U2 album - No Line On The Horizon. You know what? It's true. Get On Your Boots is the only bad song on there. Seriously, I don't know how or why they did it, but they managed to choose the one song that has nothing to do with the rest of the album and put it out there as the first single. It's unfortunate because as a first single, it's your first impression of what their new material is going to be like, and in this case, it's such a bad misrepresentation. I'll bet it's going to stop some people from even bothering to hear the album in its entirety.
But don't judge a book by its cover. Or in this case, don't judge an album by its first single. The rest of it is amazing. I honestly think that this is their best album in years - better than the last couple of albums. It's the kind of album that you want to listen to over and over again, and you like it better each time. I don't know quite how to describe it. But I guess I'd say that it's an artistically challenging album - but not in a weird way like Zooropa. It still sounds like U2, but they're trying to move forward to evolve their sound. Electronic drums and different rhythms. Layered sonic textures, if that makes sense.
It's very soulful, which is classic U2, isn't it? But it's U2 at their best, with songs that make you pump your fists in the air, bob your head to the beat, and think to yourself, YEAH!!! If Bono were a preacher, then I'd join his church because that man always manages to elevate a song to a place you want to follow. If you've never seen them live, then you absolutely have to. They're worth every penny, and I always come out of it feeling like I've just had a spiritual experience. I know, I know, total hyperbole. But you get the point. Go see them. Go get this album. You won't be disappointed (well, other than Get On Your Boots, but we'll pretend that that never happened).
Yet another song that's better than Get On Your Boots. Thanks to whoever it is that's uploading these videos so quickly. Much appreciated!
When I told a friend of mine that I don't have an ipod, she said to me, "What? But you're so into music - how can you not have an ipod?!" My response was that for me, owning or not owning an ipod has absolutely nothing to do with my love of music. And it's true. I'm still into music, I still go to as many concerts as I can. I'm more into music than a lot of people I know. And I did it all without an ipod.
It's not that I don't have an mp3 player. I do. It's just tiny little 1 GB player from Creative Labs. It's a pretty good player and hasn't given me any problems. I just haven't felt the need to get an ipod since this one works just fine. It still does. Also though, part of it was that the ipod was so overhyped and I got sick of hearing about it. And quite frankly, it was overpriced at the begining. I'm not one of those people who need to have the newest gadget as soon as it's released either, so I'm happy to wait a while until it comes down in price. Plus, you never want to get anything in its first or second generation because there are always a lot of bugs that need to be worked out first.
But I think it's finally time to trade up. The main reason is that 1GB isn't enough for me. I have to constantly swap out the albums or songs on it because it can only hold so much. I'd rather have one thing where I can store everything on it at once. I have a crapload of cds that need to be uploaded, and I have thousands of other songs around somewhere that I'd like to put on there as well. I'm tired of manually swapping out the songs. I just need one giant portable jukebox.
So I'm not sure if I should get a nano or a classic. Any thoughts?
Was watching Jimmy Fallon again last night. Sounds like all I've done is watch late night shows lately, huh? Well, it's not that I stay up late. I've got some east coast channels, so I can watch all that stuff earlier in the night if there's nothing else on.
Anyway, I caught his interview with Tina Fey and it was hilarious because she was talking about how she was at the Oscars sitting two rows behind Mickey Rourke. When the camera was on him, she was also in the shot in the background and she had to look serious. Then they showed the picture of it and then she says, "Who's that other guy in the shot? The devil?" And Jimmy says, "That's the Twilight guy." and then she says, "He's like some sexy devil or something." lol
I love that she didn't know who he was, and better yet, that she called him the devil. haha.
Here's the clip from the Oscars that she was referring to.
