Walking down the hallways of this building, I can see into the classrooms, and one thing I've noticed is that all these kids use laptops to take notes, instead of just using a pen and paper. Wtf? First off, that makes me feel old. Secondly, I've got a laptop, but I wouldn't go hauling that thing around. My battery only lasts for about an hour, so one class alone would use up the power. Who has time to be charging it up between classes? Or do these classrooms have power outlets at each desk now? Yep, I'm old.

If I were to take classes now, I'd still bring my spiral-bound notebook and a pen. I'm a fabulous note-taker. I can write quickly, with legible handwriting (I was never one of those people who would take crappy notes and then have to go and rewrite them later - what a waste of time!), and I can manage to organize the notes with bullets as I'm listening and writing. Plus I like to draw arrows or tables all over the place, to reference other things. I rock at taking notes.

But maybe I'm a walking archaic relic of the late 90s, when msn messenger was about as high tech as it got, and dial-up modems were not uncommon. Hell, I remember when the internet got introduced. My brother was on it, and I said, wth is that for? What a waste of time. This is a total fad that's never going to last - as if people are going to spend their time reading things on a computer screen all day.

heh. Guess I was wrong. And maybe I need to learn to take notes while typing.
